From the Niagara Region in Ontario, Canada, DarkWAVE composer Matt Macpherson is re-defining cinematic music.
Amongst the over-saturated market of beat-makers and ‘musicians’, Matt stands out with hand-crafted music that is symphonic and cinematic – with a modern twist of synth-hop and hip-hop. Other styles ranging from rock to orchestral.
His first public appearance featured him as the original score composer for a full length feature film ‘Silent Sam‘ which was distributed in North America via. Blockbuster. Gaining traction and exposure he went on to win Songwriter of the Year in 2011, and Instrumentalist of the Year in 2013 at the annual Niagara Music Awards in Niagara Falls, Canada.
Matt sets out to create cinematic and symphonic styles of score & leisure music. Drawing on influences of rock, electronic, neo-classical, hip-hop, & orchestral, Matt aims to bring a new awareness to the DarkWAVE genre. DarkWAVE is the combination of neo-classical and symphonic with foreboding and dark-ominous tones.
“Music is an escape for me, I am an artist in both audio and visual. As a photographer I am delighted to give wedding couples, and families, pictures and memories they can treasure forever. That is such a fulfilling and gratifying feeling to do for others. As a musician, I feel much the same. I want to give you something you can enjoy, even if it’s just one song… I hope that you will keep it alongside other music you enjoy.” – Matt Macpherson
